Wendy’s DreamLift Day

Today was Wendy’s DreamLift Day! The fundraiser donates all the proceeds from the day’s sales, along with all management, owner and staff wages, to help fly children with physical disabilities and life-threatening illnesses to Disneyland for a day.

I got a chance to lend a hand to the cause and had such a great time! It was my first time working at a fast food restaurant and I give major kudos to all the staff at the Rutland Wendy’s for letting me help out. The restaurant was packed with customers and with all the volunteer helpers, there was almost the same number of people behind the counter! But it was so great to work together with people from Shaw, the RCMP and Q103 for a shared cause.

At noon, the line-up was always twisting and turning all the way around the restaurant.

The awesome employees at Wendy’s were wicked fast at making all the different types of burgers. I was extremely impressed!

Many helping hands behind the counters making sure we filled all the orders quickly.

Lots of customers were very gracious with the long line-up and gave generously to the DreamLift fundraiser.

I quickly became an expert at making Frosties! I jumped at every opportunity there was to make a Frosty…chocolate or vanilla…small, medium or large, I was on it as soon as a customer ordered one.

Many thanks go out to Lou, who let me hover by her side during my shift and who is also the fastest and nicest Wendy’s cashier I’ve had the pleasure to be around! I’ve never worked at a fast food restaurant before and she showed me so much about customer service. She taught me how to take an order quickly and how to deal with all the different facets of an order (forks, ketchup, fries, pop, croutons, salad dressing, etc) and had so much patience with me. I had a lot of fun with you Lou!
